Just a File Opener.....
I promised myself (and some friends) to marry the first woman I met who could cook better than I as could. I'm still single. Not only didn't I find her, I never even found one who could cook as well. Why is this ? Well, I guess they bought the great liberationist's dream way back in the 60s and 70s. Look where it got us; an entire generation of people who can't trust their own senses and have no judgement. The food crisis we are all in right now is just another symptom of post modern values but the gastro aspects of it got to me as its just so important. Don't get me wrong - I hate all of that dumbed-down crap we see everywhere; the vacant kids, the game-show host politicians, the globalised anonymous High Street. But the food thing just kills me.
Didn't happen in France. Didn't happen in Italy. So what is it? What is it that makes the difference across just 21 miles of English Channel? Why is it that the Brits just don't get food?
I'm priveledged to have had a good education in 'gastronomy' and I'd like to get some ideas out there that I suspect will be helpful and popular. Really, to Paraphrase "Ratatouille's" mentor, "Anyone Can Cook".
